2011 Ford Expedition

The 2011 Ford Expedition is known as the “do-it all” full-size SUV. The 2011 Expedition has a roomy and comfortable interior with excellent performance capabilities and an affordable starting price. This vehicle ranks four out of the top ten most affordable large SUVs and Consumer Guide calls it “an excellent vehicle for those who genuinely need the power and space of a large truck-type SUV.”

2011 Ford Expedition

The 2011 Ford Expedition is available in eight different trim levels. There are four main trims and each of them is also available with a longer wheelbase, which means extra trunk space for all that extra cargo. The Expedition seats up to eight with second and third row seats. The most basic trim the XL comes standard with 17-inch aluminum wheels. The XLT comes standard with 18-inch wheels while the Limited and King Ranch trims come standard with 20-inch aluminum wheels.

All trim levels come with running boards to aid in entering and exiting the vehicle. However, as an option on the XLT, Limited and King Ranch are the power-deployable running boards. These running boards will automatically extend when the door is open and retract once the door is closed. All trims come with a luggage rack with crossbars and side rails. There is also privacy glass in the rear quarter windows, rear doors and rear windows. The windshield and front windows are solar-tinted. A power moonroof is available as an option the XLT, Limited and King Ranch models.

On the interior of the 2011 Expedition all models come with rear auxiliary climate control. The XL and XLT come standard with manual air conditioning and the Limited and King Ranch come standard with dual-zone electronic automotive temperature control. This feature is an available option on the XLT. On the XLT, Limited and King Ranch models a standard feature is the Reverse Sensing System; this system uses ultrasonic sensors to alert the driver to certain objects behind the vehicle when they are backing up. The Limited and King Ranch models come standard with a rear view camera that helps the driver see what is behind the vehicle and also aid in hooking up a trailer. Also available as an option on the XLT and standard on the Limited and King Ranch are rain-sensing wipers. These wipers can sense rain, snow or road spray hitting the window and will automatically operate at the right speed.  Another automatic feature of the Limited and King Ranch models is the power liftgate which allows the driver to easily open or close the trunk with the push of a button.

All Expedition models come standard with SIRIUS satellite radio and include a six-month introductory subscription. Ford’s SYNC system comes standard on the XLT, Limited and King Ranch models and is an available option the XL model. SYNC allows the driver to operate their MP3 player and Bluetooth® enabled phones with simple voice commands. This system also offers 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Report. The 911 Assist feature connects the driver or passengers with a 911 operator after an accident where the airbag deploys. The Vehicle Health Report allows the owner to create a personalized online report of their vehicles diagnostics.

All trims come standard with two-wheel drive, but there is the available option of the ControlTrac four-wheel drive system. This system helps provide traction on roads filled with snow, ice or gravel by dividing engine torque front-to-rear. This vehicle comes standard with a 5.4L V8 and delivers 310 horsepower and 365 lb.-ft of torque; which allows it to tow up to 9,200 pounds. The Expedition has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.

All 2011 Expedition models come standard with dual-stage front airbags, a Safety Canopy system and front seat side-impact air bags. The Safety Canopy system includes side-curtain airbags from front and rear passengers, a rollover sensor and roll-fold technology. The SOS Post-Crash Alert System is also standard on all 2011 Expeditions; this system activates the horn and emergency flashers in case of an accident where the airbags are deployed to help first responders locate the vehicle. MyKey comes standard in all trim levels and is a feature to help make driving safer for younger drivers. MyKey standards include muting the audio system whenever the BeltMinder is activated until the seat belts are buckled. It is also chimes when the low fuel warning is displayed and the distance-to-empty reaches 75 miles. The vehicles speed cannot exceed 80 MPH and visual warnings are displayed followed by a chime when this speed is exceeded. The MyKey system also allows the owner to pre-select a speed and when this speed is exceeded a visual warning as well as a chiming sound is automatically activated.

The 2011 Ford Expedition is a great vehicle for those who need room for lots of passengers and cargo and extreme towing capabilities.
