2011 Ford Fiesta
The Fiesta, Ford’s subcompact car that has been very successful in Europe for years, has finally made its debut in America. The 2011 Ford Fiesta boasts a small frame with smooth and crisp handling, high fuel economy, available luxurious amenities, and a fun-to-drive personality.
The 2011 Ford Fiesta appeals to all by offering both sedan and hatchback styles. S, SE, and SEL are the three trim levels available on the sedan and SE and SES are the two hatchback trim levels. The base S sedan comes equipped with 15-inch steel wheels, power mirrors, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, Easy Fuel cap less fuel filler, auxiliary audio input jack, and 60/40 split rear seats with adjustable head restraints. The SE sedan adds power windows and door locks, a CD player, metallic trim, and a three-bar chrome grille.
The SEL sedan adds 16-inch nickel premium paint wheels, the SYNC electronics interface, a six speaker audio system with CD/MP3 capability and SIRIUS radio, leather-wrapped steering wheel with metallic trim, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a rear spoiler. The SE hatchback shares the SE sedan standard features but also adds a rear spoiler and wiper. The SES hatchback also is comparable to the SEL sedan, with the addition of a rear wiper. Also featured on all Fiestas is Electric Power Assist Steering, which reduces drag and gives the Fiesta its crisp handling capability.
Engineered to handle quick sprints as well as long distances, Ford Fiestas are powered by a 1.6-liter Duratec I4 engine that outputs 120-hp. A five-speed manual transmission is standard and a six-speed automatic is available as an option. The optional PowerShift six-speed automatic is equipped with a neutral idle mode that helps eliminate drag and increase fuel efficiency, receiving an EPA estimated 40 mpg highway and 29 mpg city.
The Fiesta is equipped with a multitude of safety features. With seven airbags, the Fiesta leads in its class, and is the first to offer a driver’s knee airbag. Electronic stability control is standard to help detect wheel slip and prevent skidding, under steering, and over steering. Anti-lock brakes, traction control, post-crash alert system, tire pressure monitoring system, an incredibly strong safety cage, and integrated blind-spot mirrors are also on all Fiestas.
The Fiesta’s interior is full of stylish and edgy décor. Metallic accents and soft-touch durable materials give the cabin a premium vibe. A 4-inch multifunctional LCD screen with red-colored text is displayed conveniently in the center console allowing for a clear view of audio, phone information, and other settings. To increase the space, all Fiestas offer rear seats that fold down to give extra room. Storage containers for such items as cell phones, water bottles, and MP3 player are plentiful throughout the cabin.
If more than the standard features are desired, a slew of packages are available to custom design the Fiesta to fit any needs. Packages vary by model and include Sport Appearance Package, Convenience Package, Super Fuel Economy Package, Winter Package, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and Ambient Lighting Package, and a few value packages.
